This prototype is an experiment towards the two aspects of the six viewpoints method, space and time. It is a ten-day experiment during which I measured different spaces, all parts of the ArtEZ University of the Arts, in different time zones. The first stage begins with me in the space trying to measure as many lines and surfaces as I can, for one hour. Then I go into a studio alone and try to draw on paper all the lines that I measured without looking at the space but through my instinct and memory. The third stage is me trying to do the same thing, but on a bigger scale. This time my whole body participates. Again, through my instinct and my body’s memory, I try to imprint the spaces that I had measured. The sound of the video is also connected to the time and space that I was working on these days. The first place is a public area of the university during the afternoon and the second one is a dance studio, where I was all alone during evening hours. Through this process, I try to be familiar and intimate with the space I stand in. No distractions, just me and every little detail that I can get from it. Staying focused, on these two specific elements of this method, I am trying to work and practice towards opening up the mind, and opening up the senses. I realized that as time passed by I became more aware and more present. With this method as a tool, I am willing to research where these qualities of realness, awareness, and openness come from.
